Position overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an entry-level Junior SDET / Senior Associate to join an IT-focused engineering team in Burlington, MA. This role is an excellent fit for recent graduates or early-career engineers (1–3 years experience) who want hands-on exposure to cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, environment provisioning, automation, and quality engineering.


What you’ll do (Responsibilities)

  • Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application builds, deployments, and automated validations (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Assist with provisioning and configuring development, QA, UAT, and pre-production environments.
  • Automate manual deployment, provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks.
  • Develop and maintain automation and tooling scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code projects using Terraform, Ansible, or comparable tools.
  • Support cloud-hosted environments (primarily Microsoft Azure; some exposure to AWS possible).
  • Participate in software release, patch, and hotfix deployments; troubleshoot and escalate pipeline or deployment failures.
  • Help maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational health checks.
  • Create and keep current deployment documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support automated execution of smoke, regression, and release-validation test suites and help integrate quality gates into pipelines.
  • Investigate test failures to distinguish infrastructure, test-data, automation, and application issues.
  • Collaborate with QA and development teams during release validation and defect triage.
  • Follow established security, compliance, source-control, and DevSecOps practices while contributing to cloud adoption and platform modernization efforts.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline. Recent graduates with internships or academic projects are encouraged to apply.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience (or equivalent internship/co-op experience) in DevOps, cloud operations, system administration, infrastructure or software engineering, or quality engineering.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and exposure to tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with Git and source-control workflows.
  • Basic scripting ability in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or Shell.
  • Foundational knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Understanding of software build, deployment, and release processes.
  • Exposure to Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code concepts.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, SSL certificates.
  • Familiarity with Agile development and foundational testing concepts (smoke, functional, regression, automated testing).

Preferred qualifications

  • Hands-on exposure to Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience or exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Entry-level cloud certifications (Azure Fundamentals AZ-900, AWS Cloud Practitioner) are a plus.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with API testing and tools such as Postman; basic exposure to Playwright, Selenium, or REST Assured is helpful.
  • Academic or personal project experience deploying applications or automation in the cloud.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries is a plus.

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary range: $52,000 - $91,000 annually (applies to Burlington, MA location; applicable range may differ if the role is performed outside the primary location).

This position is part of an IT-focused quality and platform engineering function supporting product teams with automated test execution, environment provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and release activities. The role offers accelerated learning in cloud automation, release engineering, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and quality engineering best practices while working with experienced engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.
