What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Junior SAP SME to support the development, modernization, integration, testing, and sustainment of SAP S/4HANA interfaces in a complex enterprise environment. This is a contract, full-time role with telecommute flexibility.
- Support development, enhancement, and maintenance of SAP ABAP programs in SAP S/4HANA.
- Assist in designing and modernizing interfaces between SAP and external enterprise systems.
- Develop or support integrations using:
- SAP OData services
- REST and SOAP APIs
- BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interfaces)
- RFCs (Remote Function Calls)
- IDocs where applicable
- Analyze existing interfaces and identify opportunities for modernization, automation, and improved performance.
- Prepare and maintain technical specifications, interface design documents, data mappings, test scripts, deployment instructions, and operational documentation.
- Assist with unit, integration, regression, and interface testing; troubleshoot interface failures, data-processing errors, ABAP issues, and system integration problems.
- Support data mapping, validation, transformation, and reconciliation between SAP and external systems.
- Follow SAP development standards, naming conventions, security requirements, and configuration-management procedures.
- Support controlled promotion of SAP code through development, test, QA, staging, and production environments; create and manage SAP transport requests.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and technical working sessions.
- Provide status updates and promptly communicate technical risks, dependencies, and implementation issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or related field — or equivalent relevant experience.
- Approximately 1–3 years of SAP development, integration, internship, academic, or related technical experience.
- Foundational knowledge of SAP ABAP development.
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA architecture and development concepts.
- Understanding of SAP integration technologies: OData, APIs, BAPIs, RFCs.
- Basic understanding of REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Ability to prepare clear technical specifications and system-development documentation.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle practices: testing, configuration management, and release-management.
- Ability to work within structured code-promotion and change-control processes.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with technical and functional team members in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to SAP IDocs, CDS views, ABAP Objects, SAP Fiori, SAP Gateway, or SAP Business Technology Platform.
- Familiarity with SAP interface monitoring, error handling, batch processing, and job scheduling.
- Experience supporting SAP modernization or migration initiatives.
- Exposure to middleware, API management, or enterprise integration platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methods and tools (Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Experience in federal government, DoD, or other regulated environments.
- Understanding of formal change control, separation of duties, cybersecurity, and audit documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager or comparable ALM tools.

Security & Clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to meet security requirements for Moderate Risk, Non-Critical Sensitive/IT-II with Tier 3/NACLC/ANACI investigation (Secret-level or equivalent as required). Hiring decisions and final clearance determinations are made by the client and government authorities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 annually (actual compensation determined by experience, education, certifications, and qualifications).
