Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level, full-time Junior Software Programmer / Data Engineer / BI Analyst in Dowtown Carrier Annex, CA. This role is designed for early-career engineers and career-switchers who want hands-on experience across software development and data workflows. The position offers a salary range of $82,000 - $136,000 per year.
What you’ll do
- Contribute to application codebases using Java and/or Python
- Support design and build of ETL/data pipelines and BI reports to deliver actionable insights
- Write and optimize SQL queries and assist with data validation and quality checks
- Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, and product teams to implement features and fixes
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities under mentor guidance
- Learn and apply fundamentals of machine learning and data engineering where required
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience
- Working knowledge of Java or Python and basic programming concepts
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn on the job
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred skills (not required)
- Experience with data-processing libraries or tools (pandas, SQL, or similar)
- Version control experience (git) and basic exposure to CI/CD practices
- Interest or coursework in data engineering, BI, or machine learning topics
- Eagerness to participate in live projects, interviews, and hands-on training
