Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Junior Network Engineer (hybrid) to support enterprise network operations across LAN, WAN, wireless, and external connectivity environments. This role supports monitoring, reporting, basic incident response, and operational documentation. The position is contingent on contract award and availability. U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (or DHS Suitability) are required. This role is based in Northern Virginia with onsite capability required at one of: West Springfield, Herndon, or Ashburn; hybrid remote work is permitted per business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor network performance and assist with routine operational tasks across LAN, WAN, wireless, and external links.
- Generate and maintain bandwidth, utilization, KPI, availability, and service-performance reports.
- Perform trend analysis to support capacity planning and identify potential performance issues.
- Maintain network documentation — configuration records, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Assist with outage and maintenance communications and support incident response activities.
- Update and maintain operational records in enterprise systems (for example, ServiceNow).
- Collaborate with network engineers and operations teams to support service delivery and continuity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance reporting accuracy and operational processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years supporting IT operations, network operations, or technical support in an enterprise environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (routing, switching, network performance metrics).
- Experience creating and maintaining reports on network performance and utilization (Excel, dashboards, or similar).
- Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow for tracking operational activities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze trend data for reporting and capacity insights.
- Able to follow standard operating procedures and assist with routine operational tasks.
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust is required.
Preferred
- Experience supporting federal environments or contract-based programs.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and reporting tools.
- Basic knowledge of ITIL or ITSM processes.
- Experience assisting with planned maintenance or outage communications.
- Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Network+ are a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in team-based operational environments.
Compensation & Location
- Salary range: $50,000 — $60,000 per year (minimum/maximum as listed by the hiring organization).
- This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring onsite capability in Northern Virginia (West Springfield, Herndon, or Ashburn).
- Employment is contingent upon contract award and position availability.
