Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist (entry-level) to join a data team in Boston, MA. This role is ideal for recent grads or early-career practitioners who can write SQL, use Python for data work, build clear dashboards, and tell a model story grounded in real data and measurable outcomes.

- Compensation: $82,000 - $136,000 per year
What you’ll do
As a Junior Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist you will:
- Support end-to-end data workflows: extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for analysis and models
- Write clear, efficient SQL queries to validate and prepare datasets
- Build reproducible Python code and notebooks that can be reviewed and iterated on
- Implement and evaluate models for churn, fraud, recommendation, or similar use cases
- Create executive-ready dashboards and visualizations (Tableau or Power BI) to communicate results
- Work with data platform tools such as Databricks and Snowflake (or similar)
- Document model assumptions, metrics, and limitations; present results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Participate in interview-ready project work and improve artifacts (resume/LinkedIn) that demonstrate hands-on skills
Who we’re looking for (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Economics, or related field (recent grads encouraged)
- Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis (pandas, scikit-learn or similar)
- Practical SQL skills — able to write and optimize queries in a live setting
- Familiarity with data visualization (Tableau or Power BI) and communicating insights to stakeholders
- Basic understanding of common ML problems (classification, regression, recommendation) and evaluation metrics
- Strong problem-solving, written communication, and the ability to explain results clearly
- Motivation to learn data engineering tools (Databricks, Snowflake) and GenAI/LLM fundamentals
Nice to have (preferred)
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or cloud data platforms
- Prior coursework or projects in ETL, BI, or production-model deployment
- Exposure to GenAI / LLM workflows or recent hands-on experimentation
- Internships or capstone projects that include end-to-end deliverables (data, model, dashboard, and business outcome)
