About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring entry-level Java microservices developers and junior data analysts in Boston, MA. This is a placement-focused opportunity that pairs technical mentorship with real-world experience. Candidates will work on Java-based backend services and support data analysis/ETL or reporting tasks as part of cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to backend services using Java and Spring (microservices architecture)
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with databases
• Write unit and integration tests, and follow CI/CD practices
• Assist with data collection, cleansing, and basic analysis to support product or business decisions
• Create simple dashboards or reports (Excel, SQL, or BI tools) for stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data teams to scope and deliver features
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call rotation as required for the team

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong fundamentals in Java and object-oriented programming
• Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks
• Basic understanding of microservice concepts (APIs, service-to-service communication)
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Comfort with data-focused tasks (data wrangling, exploratory analysis)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience — open to recent grads and career changers
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Authorized to work in the U.S. or willing to follow client-specific sponsorship guidance (Confidential Client encourages applicants across visa statuses; confirm eligibility with the recruiter)

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized deployments
• Familiarity with Python for data tasks, or tools like Pandas
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge of messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ) or REST best practices
• Basic BI tool experience (Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
