About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring entry-level developers through a training + placement program designed to bridge the gap between academic experience and production-ready engineering work. This opportunity focuses on Java and microservices development with options for candidates who also want to pursue junior data analyst responsibilities.
This role is offered as contract (with full-time opportunities). The posted compensation range is $79,000 - $136,000 per year (see Compensation section).
What You’ll Do
- Learn and apply modern Java and microservices patterns (Spring / Spring Boot).
- Build, maintain, and test RESTful microservices.
- Participate in small team projects to deliver end-to-end features.
- Write and review clean, well-documented code and unit tests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects in development environments.
- For candidates pursuing data analyst work: collect, clean, and analyze data; build queries and basic dashboards.
- Prepare for technical interviews with guided practice and real-world problem sets.
- Collaborate with mentors and peers to improve coding, DevOps, and cloud practices.

- Recent graduates (BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics) with limited professional experience.

Required Skills & Technologies
- Core: Java, object-oriented programming fundamentals.
- Frameworks: Spring / Spring Boot and familiarity with building REST APIs.
- Microservices concepts: service decomposition, service-to-service communication, basic patterns (e.g., circuit breaker, service discovery).
- Source control: Git.
- Basic cloud/DevOps exposure (CI/CD pipelines, containerization) — willingness to learn.
- For data-track candidates: SQL, Excel, basic Python (pandas) or similar, and data visualization fundamentals.
- Problem-solving ability, good communication, and a willingness to learn from feedback.
Preferred (nice-to-have)
- Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
