What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level / early-career role that blends software engineering (Java, microservices) with data-focused skills (Python, SQL, analytics). You will join Confidential Client’s early-career pipeline and work on supervised projects that build real-world experience for both software and data tracks.

  • Contribute to Java-based microservices and APIs using standard frameworks and patterns.
  • Support full-stack development tasks when needed (frontend integration, REST endpoints).
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews.
  • Build and query databases using SQL; help prepare and validate data for analytics tasks.
  • Assist in simple data analysis and model validation tasks using Python (pandas, scikit-learn).
  • Collaborate with engineers and data teams to deliver small features and bug fixes.
  • Document work, follow engineering processes (git, CI/CD basics), and learn production deployment flows.
  • Participate in a structured training plan to expand skills across Java, Python, SQL, and cloud/devops fundamentals.

Qualifications

Candidates may come from recent graduation, career transitions, or non-traditional backgrounds. We prioritize demonstrable aptitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent (or relevant coursework/projects).
  • Basic experience or coursework with Java; familiarity with object-oriented design.
  • Exposure to SQL and basic data querying.
  • Some Python experience (scripting, data manipulation) is a plus.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice concepts.
  • Familiarity with version control (git) and basic testing practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and follow a structured career development plan.

Preferred Skills (not required)

  • Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or containerization (Docker).
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis libraries (pandas, NumPy) or introductory ML experience.
  • Frontend exposure (JavaScript, React, or similar) for full-stack rotations.
  • Coursework or projects demonstrating data pipelines, ETL, or BI tools.
