What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level/full-time software role focused on Java and Spring Boot development with opportunities to work alongside data science and AI teams. You’ll contribute to backend services, APIs, and support efforts to productionize ML/AI models and data pipelines.
- Write, test, and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot and related ecosystems
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate ML models into production systems
- Implement unit and integration tests; follow CI/CD best practices
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning
- Troubleshoot defects, monitor services, and help improve reliability and performance
- Learn and apply basic data engineering and ML model deployment concepts under mentorship
What We’re Looking For
Candidates should be early-career or career-switchers with strong fundamentals and eagerness to learn on the job.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience (preferred)
- Practical experience (projects, internships, coursework) with Java and Spring Boot
- Familiarity with Python or exposure to ML/AI workflows is a plus (Python knowledge helpful for collaborating with data teams)
- Basic SQL and data-handling skills
- Version control with Git and familiarity with CI/CD concepts
- Strong communication skills and willingness to accept feedback in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to explain technical choices
Nice to Have
- Exposure to ML concepts: supervised learning, NLP, deep learning, or LLM/GenAI fundamentals
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Familiarity with data engineering tools or ETL concepts
- Unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and API testing experience
- Any internship, open-source contributions, or projects that demonstrate hands-on code
Compensation & Employment Details
- Location: Tampa, FL (on-site / local)
- Employment type: Full-time
- Salary: $79,000 - $127,000 per year (provided by the confidential client)
- This role is an early-career/entry-level hire with training and mentorship opportunities
