What You’ll Do

This entry-level role is ideal for candidates seeking a pathway into Java development or data engineering. You will:

• Contribute to backend Java development and assist on data engineering tasks
• Implement, test, and maintain Java-based services (APIs, microservices) and ETL/data pipelines
• Write and debug Python scripts for data processing and automation where needed
• Work with SQL and relational/columnar stores to design queries and optimize data access
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineers, data analysts, QA) and follow agile practices
• Document work, write unit/integration tests, and follow version-control/CI workflows
• Participate in training, code reviews, and structured upskilling to close any tech-skill gaps

What We’re Looking For

We encourage applications from recent grads, career-switchers, and candidates returning to work after a gap. Minimum expectations:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or equivalent practical experience — OR demonstrable project experience
• 0–2 years of programming or internship experience; must be comfortable learning on the job
• Familiarity with Java and basic object-oriented design
• Basic SQL skills and understanding of data concepts (ETL, schemas, transformations)
• Exposure to Python is a plus (for data tasks and scripting)
• Comfortable using Git and collaborating on code
• Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and good verbal/written communication
• Able to work in or near Nashville, TN (on-site/client-site expectations vary by assignment)

Preferred Skills

• Java (core Java, collections, concurrency basics)
• Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks
• SQL (Postgres, MySQL, or similar)
• Python (Pandas, scripting)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and basic services (S3, RDS)
• Experience with data tools (Spark, Airflow) or BI tools is beneficial
• Docker, CI/CD basics, unit testing frameworks
• Experience building or supporting ETL/data pipelines

Compensation & Work Type

• Compensation: $82,000 - $136,000 per year (range as provided by the client)
• Employment type: Full-time
• Location: Nashville, TN (on-site or client-site as required by specific engagements)
• This opportunity is appropriate for entry-level candidates and those rebuilding momentum after a career gap. Training, mentoring, and job-readiness support may be offered depending on the client assignment.
