Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Java Developer (entry-level / junior) to work with Java, React.js, and Spring on projects that include AI-focused features. This is an ideal role for recent CS/Engineering grads, bootcamp graduates, career changers, and candidates with limited professional experience who want structured mentorship, hands-on projects, and clear pathways to growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to Java-based back-end services using Spring / Spring Boot.
  • Implement and maintain front-end components with React.js.
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate services across the stack.
  • Participate in design and code reviews; write unit and integration tests.
  • Assist on AI/ML integration tasks (data pipelines, model inference endpoints) with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Use version control (Git) and follow CI/CD workflows (basic Docker/DevOps exposure encouraged).
  • Work in an agile team: attend standups, estimate tasks, and collaborate with product and QA.
  • Produce clear documentation and communicate progress to mentors and stakeholders.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience — OR completion of an accredited coding bootcamp.
  • Practical experience or coursework with Java (basic OOP, collections, exceptions).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and React.js fundamentals (components, props/state).
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and relational databases (SQL).
  • Comfortable using Git and command-line tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred skills

  • Experience (academic, bootcamp, or personal projects) with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end tooling (Webpack, Babel, npm/yarn).
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker) and basic CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Any coursework or project experience with data, machine learning, or AI libraries (Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn, accept mentorship, and grow quickly in a production environment.

Why join

  • Structured, placement-focused onboarding and mentorship designed for early-career engineers.
  • Hands-on projects that build portfolio-ready deliverables.
  • Support with resume positioning, interview prep, and career planning.
  • Opportunity to work on AI-focused features while mastering full-stack Java development.
  • Estimated compensation (as listed publicly): $131,729 per year (estimated). Actual pay and benefits will be provided by the hiring organization during the interview/offer process.

Location & employment type

  • Job location: Boulder, CO (on-site or local hybrid arrangements depending on team needs).
  • Employment type: FULL_TIME (expected).
  • Confidential Client welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourages candidates who require reasonable accommodations to request them during the hiring process.
