Role Summary

Confidential Client is seeking a motivated, early-career Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join an Infrastructure Operations team in Richmond, VA (hybrid). This is a 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity offering structured technical training through the Elevate Program, hands-on experience with enterprise Linux systems, automation exposure, and a clear career development path.

  • Location: Richmond, VA (hybrid)
  • Employment type: 12-month Contract-to-Hire
  • Pay: $70,000 - $75,000 per year (depending on experience)

What You’ll Do

  • Support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and enterprise Linux environments.
  • Assist with monthly patching and vulnerability remediation; validate post-patch health.
  • Monitor server health, performance, and availability; perform routine maintenance.
  • Help provision, configure, and decommission servers under guidance.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot basic OS-level incidents; document resolutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotation after completing required training.
  • Learn and assist with Ansible automation playbooks and repeatable operational workflows.
  • Work closely with Linux, Windows, Monitoring, Cybersecurity, and Application Support teams to maintain reliable infrastructure services.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 0–3 years supporting Linux, Windows, or enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Basic Linux command-line skills and familiarity with common administration tasks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Customer-service mindset and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Quick learner with a willingness to follow structured training and mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience or coursework with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Familiarity with basic scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Exposure to virtualization technologies (VMware) and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
  • Entry-level Linux certification (Linux+, RHCSA, or equivalent).
  • Internships, lab projects, or personal Linux projects demonstrating practical experience.
