Responsibilities

Confidential Client is seeking a Junior Help Desk Specialist to deliver timely, professional IT support to end users contacting the Single-Point-of-Contact IT Service Desk in Manchester, MO. This is an entry-level to early-career role designed for candidates who want to build hands-on IT skills and progress within a government-focused IT organization.

  • Assist with technical support for computer systems, hardware, and software.
  • Respond to incoming requests via phone, email, and chat; troubleshoot and document incidents.
  • Run diagnostics, isolate problems, and implement or escalate solutions.
  • Create and update tickets in the approved incident management system (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Use First Call Resolution techniques when possible; follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Provide first-contact account support (password resets, account unlocks) and basic security troubleshooting.
  • Run reports to identify recurring malfunctions and communicate trends to the team.
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-tier support per documented procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operations and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet at least one of the following education/experience combinations:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR
  • Associate’s degree OR
  • High school diploma plus 1+ years of IT experience OR
  • 3+ years military experience OR
  • 1+ years working in a government agency environment

Additional required qualifications:

  • Operational experience with ServiceNow is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) IAT Level I certification (A+ CE, Network+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, SSCP, or equivalent) within 6 months of hire.
  • TS/SCI clearance required with the ability to obtain CI polygraph.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and common desktop support tasks.
  • Strong phone skills, professional demeanor, and ability to train end users on common issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior ServiceNow experience.
  • Active Security+ certification.
  • Experience supporting federal or intelligence-community users.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Able to work the posted schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (training may occur 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.).
  • Availability to work holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced contracting environment.
  • Clear, professional communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities; able to visualize and resolve technical issues.

  • Estimated salary: $54,671 per year (estimated).
  • Location: Manchester, Missouri — on-site service desk position supporting federal customers.
