Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Help Desk Specialist to join a fast-paced IT service desk supporting federal customers. This is an on-site, full-time role based in Creve Coeur, MO. The position provides first-line technical support via phone, email, and chat and offers hands-on experience with incident management tools, account administration, and first-call resolution practices.


Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with technical issues related to hardware, software, and computer systems.
  • Respond to email and chat support requests; walk users through troubleshooting steps.
  • Run diagnostic tools, isolate problems, and implement solutions or escalate appropriately.
  • Create and update tickets in the approved incident management system (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Use First Call Resolution (FCR) practices when appropriate.
  • Perform account resets, unlocking, basic security troubleshooting, and related tasks.
  • Run reports to identify recurring malfunctions and follow up with users to confirm resolution.
  • Collect user feedback on system usability and provide clear documentation of incidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree OR High school diploma plus 1+ years IT experience OR 3+ years military experience OR 1+ years working in a government agency environment.
  • Operational experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
  • Eligible for/holding TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain CI polygraph (as required).
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) IAT Level I certification (A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP, etc.) within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfort training end users on common issues.
  • Excellent phone skills, professional demeanor, and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior ServiceNow experience.
  • Active Security+ or other relevant IT security certification.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or federal customers.

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM (training may be during 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM).
  • Ability to work holidays as needed.
  • On-site work in Creve Coeur, MO; occasional flexibility may be required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated base: $55,518 per year (estimated).
