The Junior Fixed Income Analyst supports credit research and surveillance of fixed income sectors, working closely with portfolio managers to analyze credit exposure and assist in portfolio strategy. Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Junior Fixed Income Analyst to support fixed income credit research and monitoring for separately managed accounts. This is an entry-level to early-career role based in Golden Valley, MN that works closely with portfolio managers, quantitative and risk teams to support investment decisions, reporting, and risk management.
What You’ll Do
- Support portfolio managers with implementation and monitoring of credit exposure in separately managed accounts.
- Perform quantitative and fundamental credit analysis, relative value assessments, and ratings reviews to inform portfolio positioning.
- Produce written summaries on earnings releases, sector news, and other credit-impacting events; communicate findings to the investment team.
- Maintain and update financial models; analyze sector statistics and peer comparisons to anticipate changes in credit quality.
- Support internal modeling and methodology work for credit-research systems and identify opportunities to strengthen risk controls.
- Prepare reports and materials for client and executive-facing meetings; assist with client reporting as needed.
- Collaborate with Quantitative and Risk Analysts to provide backup support and contribute to risk monitoring activities.
- Develop proficiency with Bloomberg, Clearwater Analytics, S&P data, and internal databases.
What We’re Looking For
- Working knowledge of fixed income instruments including corporate bonds, Treasuries, agency mortgages, CMBS/CMOs, municipal bonds, and preferreds.
- Solid understanding of trade settlement, custody operations, and corporate actions processing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to research and resolve data discrepancies independently and escalate appropriately with clear documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; comfortable notifying PMs and team members on time-sensitive issues.
- Proven collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams (Middle Office, Settlements, Sales, Portfolio Management, Onboarding).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to shifting business needs.
- Strong analytical mindset; ability to think conceptually and at the transaction level.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data validation, reconciliation). Experience with Python or similar tools for large-scale data analysis is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field required. Progress toward CFA and/or MBA preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in investment management or investment banking as an entry-level fixed income analyst or trader.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Compensation & Location
- Location: Golden Valley, MN (on-site / local)
- Employment type: Full-time
- Salary range: $70,000 - $85,000 USD per year (Minnesota — SLP). This range is provided to comply with pay transparency and reflects the posted range for this role.

- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Lift up to 15 lbs.
