What You’ll Do
This entry-level estimating role supports senior estimators in preparing competitive, accurate bids for electrical construction projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Assist with quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Review electrical plans, bid documents, and contract specifications
- Help prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates
- Solicit and track pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Assist in the preparation and submission of bid proposals
- Maintain bid logs, estimate files, and project documentation
- Support the estimating team during bid reviews and project handoffs
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel
- Learn and use industry estimating software and company estimating procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the estimating department
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar preferred
- 0–2 years experience in construction, electrical contracting, estimating, or related field preferred
- Basic understanding of electrical construction and materials is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong mathematical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and grow in an estimating career
Preferred Experience & Tools
- Experience working for an electrical contractor
- Experience as an Electrician Helper, Apprentice Electrician, Administrative Assistant, or Project Coordinator in construction
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Accubid, ConEst, or similar estimating software
- OSHA 10 certification is a plus
Compensation & Logistics
- Employment type: Full time
- Salary range: $50,000 - $75,000 per year (dependent on experience)
- Location: Queens, NY — onsite or as required for project support
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future
- No staffing agency candidates will be considered for this position
