Confidential Client is seeking a Junior Energy Data Analyst to support consulting engagements focused on demand-side management (DSM), distributed energy resources, electrification, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and related topics. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with a foundation in statistics, economics, or data analysis who want to apply quantitative skills to energy and sustainability challenges.
What You’ll Do
You will work with senior staff to analyze data, build models, and produce insights that inform utility, government, and corporate clients. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assist with data collection, cleaning, and validation from multiple sources (metering, system models, surveys).
- Run statistical and econometric analyses to estimate energy savings, load impacts, or behavioral responses.
- Support demand-side management (DSM) evaluations, energy efficiency studies, and demand response analyses.
- Prepare charts, tables, and written summaries for reports and client presentations.
- Contribute to development of forecasting and evaluation models (time-series, regression, experimental/quasi-experimental designs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure analyses meet technical and client requirements.
- Maintain documentation of methods, assumptions, and data sources.
Qualifications (Required)
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, data science, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis using tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar.
- Strong foundation in statistical methods (regression, time-series, hypothesis testing).
- Attention to detail in data cleaning, documentation, and reproducible analysis.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with demand-side management (DSM), energy efficiency evaluation, or utility programs.
- Experience with energy modeling, load forecasting, or experimental program evaluation.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib/ggplot).
- Coursework or experience in econometrics, causal inference, or machine learning applied to time-series data.
- Interest in policy, decarbonization, or sustainability initiatives.
