Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking entry-level Junior Data Scientists with strong Python and machine-learning fundamentals to join teams in Washington, DC. This is a full-time opportunity for recent graduates or early-career practitioners who want hands-on experience building, evaluating, and productionizing data solutions. Training programs, project work, and interview prep may be available through client hiring channels and affiliated programs.

What You’ll Do

• Work with Python to preprocess data, build models, and validate results
• Implement supervised and unsupervised learning pipelines (classification, regression, clustering)
• Build and maintain reproducible experiments and basic model monitoring workflows
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business questions into data solutions
• Produce clear visualizations and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and team knowledge sharing

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field — recent grads encouraged to apply
• Practical experience with Python and core libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) through coursework, projects, or internships
• Familiarity with basic ML concepts: train/test splits, cross-validation, evaluation metrics (accuracy, AUC, RMSE, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving ability and desire to learn production-focused ML workflows
• Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-have

• Experience with data visualization tools (matplotlib, seaborn, Plotly, or BI tools)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or containerization (Docker)
• Coursework or projects using NLP, time-series, or deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow/PyTorch)
• Version control (Git) and familiarity with collaborative development practices

Compensation & employment type

• Salary range: $82,000 - $127,000 per year (Confidential Client)
• Employment type: FULL_TIME
• Location: Washington, DC — on-site or hybrid as defined by the hiring team
