What You’ll Do

This entry-level role blends data science and software engineering tasks for early-career technologists. You will work on real-world projects that help you build production-ready skills and prepare you for client-facing engineering roles.

• Assist with data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and basic statistical modeling
• Support backend and scripting tasks using Python or Java
• Contribute to full-stack feature development under senior mentorship
• Help build and run simple ML experiments and support model evaluation
• Document work, create reproducible notebooks, and follow code-review workflows
• Participate in team stand-ups and client-facing technical discussions when appropriate

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome recent graduates, career-switchers, and candidates with limited professional experience who are motivated to grow technical skills quickly.

• Recent graduates in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or related fields
• Candidates transitioning into tech or recovering from layoffs / career gaps
• Learners with basic project experience (class projects, internships, bootcamps, personal projects)
• People who communicate clearly, ask good questions, and follow guidance from mentors

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Math, Statistics or equivalent practical experience
• Working knowledge of Python or Java (coursework, projects, or bootcamp experience)
• Familiarity with data fundamentals: CSV/JSON, SQL queries, basic statistics
• Ability to write and understand simple unit-tested code
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and communication skills
• Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred (nice-to-have) skills

• Exposure to web frameworks, REST APIs, or basic full-stack development
• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or similar data tools
• Basic Linux/command-line familiarity and version control (Git)
• Coursework or projects in machine learning, data engineering, or DevOps
• Internship or part-time experience in software or data roles

Compensation & Location

• Salary range: $82,000 — $127,000 USD per year (listed by our confidential client)
• Role is remote-capable; the authoritative job location is San Jose, NM (applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.)
• Employment type: Full-time
