Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring for an entry-level / junior technical role that sits at the intersection of data and software development. This position is ideal for recent graduates, candidates returning from a career gap, or professionals pivoting into tech. You’ll work with BI and data tools and may be exposed to Java / Spring Boot development depending on project needs. The team values practical learning, mentorship, and measurable growth.

What You’ll Do

• Work with datasets to support analytics, reporting and data-driven decisions
• Build and maintain BI dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
• Write and optimize SQL queries; prepare ETL/transformations for analysts and stakeholders
• Support model development or proof-of-concept work for data science / ML tasks
• Contribute to backend services or integrations using Java and Spring Boot when required
• Collaborate with engineering, product and business teams to translate requirements into deliverables
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrable experience or coursework with one or more of:
  • Python or Java
  • SQL and relational databases
  • BI tooling (Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar)
• Strong analytical thinking and comfort working with data
• Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders
• Desire to learn new technologies, follow best practices, and work in a collaborative team environment
• Candidates with career gaps, recent layoffs, or limited professional experience are encouraged to apply

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, or Java backend development
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Exposure to containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
• Basic knowledge of machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Experience with data engineering tooling (Airflow, dbt) or big data stacks

Compensation & Location

• Salary range: $82,000 - $142,000 per year (San Jose, CA) — posted range follows pay-transparency requirements for California.
• Employment type: Full time
• Location: San Jose, CA (on-site or client-specific work may apply)
