Overview

Confidential Client is hiring entry-level / junior Data Scientists and Software Developers in the San Antonio / Fort Sam Houston area. This role suits recent IT graduates or early-career engineers who want hands-on experience with data analysis, machine learning, and software development. What You’ll Do

As a junior-level hire you will support project teams on a mix of data science and software development tasks. Typical responsibilities include:

• Assist with data collection, cleaning, and exploratory analysis
• Implement and validate basic machine learning models under supervision
• Create data visualizations and reports to communicate results
• Contribute to backend services or tooling using Java, C++, or related technologies
• Work with Spring Boot / Microservices and help implement REST APIs
• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders in an Agile environment
• Learn and apply best practices for reproducible, testable code and ML pipelines

What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
• 0–2 years of professional or internship experience in software development or data analysis
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, Python, or C++
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and version control (Git)
• Familiarity with Core Java and/or JavaScript
• Basic knowledge of statistics and data exploration techniques (for data science roles)
• Good written and verbal communication skills; team-oriented and coachable
• Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn new tools and methods

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience or coursework in Python for data analysis (pandas, scikit-learn)
• Spring Boot, Microservices, and REST API development experience
• Data visualization tools (Tableau, matplotlib, seaborn)
• Natural Language Processing (NLP), text mining, or time-series analysis
• Exposure to machine learning workflows and basic model evaluation metrics
• Prior internship or academic project experience in data science or software engineering
