Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Junior Data Scientist/Engineer to join an IT team in Bloomington, MN. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals who want hands-on experience with data pipelines, ML basics, and production-ready tooling. The position emphasizes training, mentorship, and placement support to accelerate your technical career.

Responsibilities

• Support data collection, cleaning, and transformation for analytics and ML use cases
• Build and maintain ETL/data pipeline components alongside senior engineers
• Implement basic machine learning models and validate results with appropriate metrics
• Write clear, maintainable Python (and/or Java) code and contribute to code reviews
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business questions into data solutions
• Assist in preparing documentation, reproducible notebooks, and sample production artifacts
• Participate in interview and placement processes as needed (for trainees progressing to hires)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field — recent graduates encouraged
• Familiarity with Python; experience or coursework in Java, machine learning, or data engineering is a plus
• Basic understanding of ML concepts (regression, classification, model evaluation)
• Comfortable working with data (SQL, data frames, data cleaning)
• Strong desire to learn, ability to take direction from mentors, and good communication skills
• Open to candidates with limited professional experience, career gaps, or those transitioning into tech
