What You’ll Do
- Support analysis of structured and unstructured datasets to surface insights that inform product and business decisions.
- Write, optimize and review SQL queries to extract data from relational databases.
- Build and maintain dashboards and visualizations in tools such as Tableau or Power BI to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Assist with data cleaning, ETL tasks and basic data pipeline troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers and other analysts to scope small projects and translate business questions into analysis.
- Help evaluate basic machine learning models and prepare data for model training under supervision.
- Document analyses, assumptions, and deliverables; present results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuously learn — apply new techniques, tools and best practices to improve data workflows.
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related quantitative field — or equivalent practical experience.
- 0–2 years of professional experience in data analysis, BI, or a closely related role (internships and academic projects count).
- Practical SQL skills for querying, joining and aggregating data.
- Familiarity with Python (pandas, numpy) or R for data manipulation.
- Basic experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker or similar).
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and clear written/verbal communication skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States required; the confidential client will comply with applicable laws regarding reasonable accommodation during the hiring process.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with ETL tools or scripting to automate data ingestion.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or familiarity with data warehouses (Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and basic software engineering practices.
- Coursework or projects in machine learning, statistics, or predictive modeling.
- Knowledge of Java is a plus (some clients use Java-based tooling).
- Internship experience or portfolio of data projects that demonstrate impact.
Compensation & Location
- Estimated base salary: $136,450 per year (estimated).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Location: West Shokan, NY (United States). Candidates located in the U.S. are preferred; final location/remote options will be discussed with qualified candidates by the confidential client in accordance with applicable law.
