Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Junior Data Engineer / Junior Data Scientist to join an IT team in New York, NY. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with academic project experience in data analysis, SQL, or data engineering. You'll work with senior engineers to build and maintain data pipelines, extract insights, and support analytics workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist in data collection, cleaning, and transformation for analytics and reporting
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation
• Support development and maintenance of data pipelines and databases
• Collaborate with senior team members to analyze datasets and generate actionable insights
• Document processes, data definitions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Academic experience with data-related projects (data analysis, database design, ETL, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of SQL (required)
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and relational databases
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn quickly

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Python (or similar languages) for data manipulation
• Exposure to data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) through coursework or projects
• Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
• Experience with Git, Linux command line, or cloud basics is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range (New York, NY): $60,000 - $65,000 per year
• Eligible for additional compensation where applicable (bonuses, incentives) per company policy
