Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a motivated Junior Data Engineer / Data Scientist (entry-level / junior) to join an IT team in Middle East, Pennsylvania. This role is targeted at recent graduates, bootcamp grads, career changers, and candidates with limited professional experience who want hands-on work with Python, SQL, and data engineering fundamentals.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with building and maintaining data pipelines using Python and SQL
- Ingest, clean, and transform datasets for analytics and machine learning projects
- Support data quality checks, validation, and basic monitoring of ETL processes
- Collaborate with engineers and analysts to deliver reproducible data products and dashboards
- Participate in code reviews and follow version control best practices (Git)
- Document data sources, transformations, and workflows
- Learn and apply foundational concepts in data modeling, cloud storage, and basic orchestration
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field — OR equivalent practical experience
- Hands-on experience with Python for data processing (pandas, numpy, or similar)
- Solid SQL skills for querying, joining, and aggregating relational data
- Familiarity with data cleaning, basic ETL concepts, and working with CSV/JSON files
- Strong problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly in a team setting
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (we do not require U.S. citizenship)
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Exposure to cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or willingness to train on cloud tools
- Experience with a scheduling/orchestration tool (Airflow, cron, Prefect)
- Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
- Coursework or projects in statistics, machine learning, or data analysis
- Familiarity with unit testing and CI/CD principles

Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type: Full time
- Salary: $78,000 - $127,000 per year (range disclosed)
