Role Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Junior Data Analyst / Scientist for an entry-level, full-time role with remote-friendly options. This position is anchored to San Jose, CA (role may include remote work), and is a great fit for recent graduates or early-career data professionals who want hands-on experience with data pipelines, analytics, and foundational data science tools.

What You’ll Do

You will support data teams by preparing data, running analyses, and helping build reliable data workflows. Typical responsibilities include:

• Perform data cleaning and transformation using SQL and Python
• Build and optimize queries for reporting and analysis
• Assist in developing data pipelines and documenting ETL patterns
• Support experiments and basic machine learning tasks (data prep, model validation)
• Work with cloud-based data tools and platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar)
• Create clear visualizations and written summaries for stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other analysts to translate business questions into data solutions

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should meet most of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
• Solid SQL skills (writing and optimizing queries)
• Practical experience with Python for data tasks (pandas, numpy, basic scripting)
• Understanding of basic statistics and data validation techniques
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Demonstrated projects or coursework that show end-to-end data work (class projects, internships, personal projects)

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with Spark and Databricks
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Snowflake
• Exposure to streaming concepts or real-time ETL patterns
• Portfolio or GitHub with completed pipeline or analytics projects
• Prior internship or work experience in analytics, BI, or data engineering

Compensation & Employment Details

• Employment type: FULL_TIME
• Location: San Jose, CA (remote-friendly / TELECOMMUTE option)
• Salary range: $78,000 - $127,000 per year (provided by the employer)
• Hired by: Confidential Client (you will be a direct employee of the client)

Note: The posted salary range complies with pay transparency expectations for listings in California. Final offer will consider experience, skills, and applicable state/local laws.
