Overview

Confidential client is hiring a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst in Cayce, SC. This entry-level, full-time IT role is designed for early-career candidates with basic server or network administration experience who want to grow into a security operations / threat-hunting role. The organization provides formal on-the-job training and mentorship.


What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify emerging threats relevant to the organization.
  • Investigate alerts from SIEM and endpoint detection tools; escalate confirmed issues to senior analysts.
  • Conduct proactive hunts for suspicious behavior across network and endpoint telemetry using playbooks and provided tools.
  • Review logs from firewalls, servers, and endpoints to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).
  • Use OSINT tools to gather contextual data on potential risks and adversaries.
  • Assist in initial incident triage following established frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Collaborate with senior analysts to refine detection rules (SIEM queries, EDR rules).
  • Document findings, incident reports, and after-action reviews; propose mitigation recommendations.
  • Support patching and remediation efforts using SCCM, GPO, and PowerShell; help automate routine tasks.
  • Help develop and deliver basic security awareness training and simulations for staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Understanding of core security concepts and processes.
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking and common protocols.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Willingness to learn and follow established security playbooks and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years in an IT or security-adjacent role (server or network administration preferred).
  • Experience with SIEM platforms and endpoint security solutions.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, Group Policy, SCCM, or other endpoint management tools.
  • Exposure to vulnerability management and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (Security+, GSEC, Network+, GCIH) are a plus.

Additional Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in log review and documentation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively within a mid-sized team.
  • Desire to grow technically in SOC operations, detection engineering, and incident response.

Compensation & Location

  • Pay range: $25.88 – $30.88 per hour.
  • Employment type: Full-time (on-site in Cayce, SC).
  • This position is with a confidential client; training and mentorship are provided.
