What You’ll Do

This entry-level cybersecurity role is a hands-on position where you will learn and contribute to threat detection, incident triage, and security operations under the guidance of senior analysts.

  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify emerging threats relevant to the organization.
  • Perform proactive hunts for suspicious network and endpoint activity using provided tools and playbooks.
  • Review and interpret logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).
  • Investigate alerts and escalate incidents to senior analysts following established response frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Collaborate with senior analysts to refine and test detection rules (SIEM queries, endpoint rules).
  • Document findings, incident timelines, after-action reports, and hunting methodologies to support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with patching prioritization and deployment (SCCM, GPO, PowerShell) and help automate routine tasks.
  • Contribute to awareness and training materials and support simulated exercises to assess employee readiness.
  • Support development of cloud-specific security practices as cloud adoption increases.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum).
  • Understanding of core security concepts and basic computer & network concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze logs and alerts to identify anomalies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for report writing and collaborating with a mid-size team.

Preferred

  • 1+ years in an IT or security-focused role (server or network administration experience preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Experience with SIEM and endpoint security tools.
  • Familiarity with SCCM, GPO, and PowerShell for endpoint and patch management.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management and cloud security concepts.
  • Certifications prioritized (not required): Security+ (CompTIA), Network+ (CompTIA), GSEC, GCIH.

Skills & Tools

  • SIEM query development and tuning
  • Endpoint protection (e.g., Defender for Endpoint) and endpoint management
  • PowerShell, Group Policy (GPO), SCCM
  • OSINT techniques for threat research
  • Threat hunting methodologies and indicators of compromise (IOCs)
  • NIST and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks
  • Basic network protocols and firewall log analysis

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Pay Range: $25.88 - $30.88 per hour (hourly)
  • Employment type: Part-time
  • Location: Blythewood, SC (on-site or local work as required)
