Role Summary

Confidential Client is hiring for a Junior Customs Writer / CHB (Customs House Brokerage) Delivery Associate to support day-to-day customs entry and delivery operations. This is a fully onsite, Temp-to-Perm role based in South Valley Stream, NY. Pay: $20–$22 per hour (W2). Ideal for entry-level candidates who are detail-oriented, motivated, and eager to build a career in transportation & logistics.


What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and execute shipments to meet customer service and operational requirements
  • Download, review, and upload shipment documentation
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment data in systems and spreadsheets
  • Process customs entries and support OGA (Other Government Agency) clearances
  • Open and manage entry files per SOP and KPIs
  • Coordinate shipment releases with freight forwarders, steamship lines, airlines, CFS, and customer locations
  • Track and trace inbound shipments and coordinate local delivery logistics
  • Support audits, compliance checks, and exam coordination when required

Key Responsibilities (Operations, Documentation & Compliance)

  • Manage CHB operations for assigned customers and respond to client questions
  • Ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance (CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, etc.)
  • Maintain customer SOPs and update documentation as needed
  • Complete required reports, billing documentation, and invoices accurately and on time
  • Meet productivity and invoicing targets (including timely invoicing and fee matching)
  • Follow Lean practices and help prevent compliance errors, demurrage, and penalties

Systems & Technology

  • Work with customs brokerage systems and common platforms such as CargoWise One (CW1), CMUS, and Microsoft Excel
  • Maintain accurate spreadsheets and digital records; strong keyboard/data-entry skills required

Required Qualifications

  • 6–12 months of relevant industry experience preferred; entry-level candidates with strong aptitude will be considered
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Team player who can also independently drive issues to resolution
  • Reliable transportation (role is fully onsite)

Preferred Background

  • 1+ year of customs brokerage or customs entry experience
  • Prior work in supply chain / logistics or documentation processing
  • Familiarity with CargoWise One (CW1) or other customs-entry systems
  • Customs House Brokerage license is a plus but not required

Compensation, Schedule & Employment Type

  • Pay: $20–$22 per hour (W2)
  • Employment type: Temp-to-Perm (TTP)
  • Schedule: Standard 40 hours per week; standard business hours. Overtime may occasionally be required (weekdays beyond standard hours, weekends, or holidays). Overtime will be compensated in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
