Junior Civil Engineer - Airfield Pavement

What You’ll Do
- Support airfield pavement engineering projects including pavement design, evaluation, testing, and pavement management.
- Assist senior engineers and project managers with analysis, engineering evaluations, and technical recommendations.
- Participate in pavement-related field testing, condition assessments, data collection, and on-site evaluations.
- Analyze engineering data, interpret results, and help prepare clear technical recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, figures, tables, and client-ready presentations.
- Use tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel, GIS, AutoCAD, PAVER, FAARFIELD, and project database systems for analysis and reporting.
- Conduct field work professionally with strong attention to accuracy, documentation, quality, and safety.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, technicians, project managers, and clients.
- Travel to project sites (nationwide travel ~10%–20% annually; occasional international travel possible).
Who You Are (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (GPA ≥ 3.0/4.0 preferred).
- Entry-level / junior engineer with a demonstrated interest in pavement or aviation infrastructure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willing and able to travel for field assignments and client site work.
- Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, database tools, or programming languages is a plus.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
- Candidates may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for classified site access where applicable.
Location & Work Model
- Location: Madison, WI (authoritative). This role is hybrid and requires in-office attendance at the assigned office a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Travel: Approximately 10%–20% domestic travel for field assignments depending on season and workload. Limited international travel may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range: $56,000 to $64,000 per year, depending on education, experience, and location. Additional compensation may be available for extended work weeks associated with travel and field assignments.
