Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Junior Buyer to join their purchasing team in West End, PA. This is an entry-level, onsite, full-time role supporting purchase order administration, inventory replenishment, supplier communication, and basic inventory analysis within assigned categories.


What You’ll Do

  • Support purchase order creation and administration under established purchasing guidelines
  • Review system-generated purchasing recommendations and act as directed
  • Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers on confirmations and shipment status
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to quantities, pricing, or deliveries
  • Monitor inventory levels, review low-stock and out-of-stock reports daily
  • Assist in balancing inventory to meet service and turn objectives
  • Serve as a routine supplier contact: obtain lead times, availability updates, and track fill rates
  • Escalate supply disruptions and service failures to senior purchasing staff when needed
  • Maintain purchasing reports and basic inventory performance metrics
  • Support forecasting activities by collecting and reporting relevant data
  • Coordinate with warehouse/receiving teams on incoming product and with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Assist with product transitions, substitutions, item phase-outs, and new vendor/item setup
  • Maintain accurate supplier and purchasing records and documentation

Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Logistics, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, merchandising, inventory, warehouse, customer service, or distribution
  • Experience using a large ERP system or willingness to learn ERP workflows
  • Strong decision-making and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who requires limited day-to-day direction
  • Strong desire to learn all aspects of purchasing
  • Previous foodservice or food distribution experience is preferred but not required

Location & Schedule

  • This position is FULL-TIME and will be performed onsite in West End, PA.
  • Standard business schedule; hours and shift specifics will be provided by the hiring manager during interview.

Compensation

  • Estimated salary: $44,542 per year (estimated). Actual compensation will be confirmed by Confidential Client and may vary based on experience and internal pay practices.
