What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client is hiring a Junior Buyer to support day-to-day purchasing and inventory activities within a fast-paced foodservice distribution environment. This is an onsite role in West End, PA.
- Support purchase order creation and administration under established purchasing guidelines
- Review and act on system-generated purchasing recommendations
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers for confirmations and shipment status
- Investigate and resolve order, quantity, pricing, or delivery discrepancies
- Monitor inventory levels; review low-stock/out-of-stock reports daily
- Assist with inventory balancing to meet service and turn objectives
- Serve as routine point of contact for suppliers — obtain lead times, confirmations, and availability
- Track fill rates, escalate supply disruptions, and report service failures
- Maintain purchasing reports and inventory performance metrics; support basic forecasting activities
- Coordinate with warehouse/receiving and Accounts Payable to resolve issues
- Support product transitions, substitutions, and item setups
- Maintain accurate supplier and purchasing records and supporting documentation
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Logistics, Finance, or related field preferred
- 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, merchandising, inventory, warehouse, customer service, or distribution
- Previous foodservice or food distribution experience preferred
- Experience with large ERP systems (purchase order modules, reports)
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter who requires limited day-to-day direction and is eager to learn all aspects of purchasing
