Role Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Junior Accountant to join an Accounting & Finance team in Wadsworth, OH. This is an in-office, full-time role reporting to the Controller. The position is ideal for an early-career accounting professional with a foundational understanding of U.S. GAAP and strong Excel skills who wants hands-on experience with general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, AP/AR, and financial reporting in a fast-paced distribution and eCommerce environment.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and post journal entries for monthly and quarterly accounting activities.
- Assist with month-end close tasks, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with correct coding.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and support system cross-checks.
- Maintain documentation for audits and help monitor internal controls.
- Support sales and use tax reconciliations and filings; reconcile tax data across systems (including Avalara).
- Prepare recurring and ad-hoc financial reports to support accounting leadership.
- Support budgeting/forecasting and respond to internal stakeholder reporting requests.
What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (including internships).
- Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or Microsoft Great Plains.
- CPA candidate or intention to pursue CPA certification.
- Familiarity with eCommerce, distribution, or inventory-based businesses.
