Role & Impact
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Systems Engineer to support digital engineering course development and MBSE adoption for defense and space-focused programs. This role contributes to instructional design, foundational Digital Engineering (DE) practices, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) enablement across an enterprise environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in developing systems engineering training and course materials to support enterprise modernization.
- Work with a professional Instructional Systems Designer to create instructor-led, video-based, and web-based training.
- Support delivery of foundational DE approaches to ensure engineering and MS&A processes meet program requirements.
- Help implement MBSE methods and advise technical teams on modeling best practices.
- Contribute to enterprise-level digital engineering approaches to ensure accessible, interconnected, and structured models and data.
- Support a federated modeling approach across mission partners and adhere to established MBSE methodology.
- Communicate modeling concepts and best practices to stakeholders at varying levels.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (0 years of professional experience acceptable).
- Foundational understanding of systems engineering principles and familiarity with Digital Engineering (DE) / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Basic familiarity with data concepts and technologies such as relational databases, ontologies, the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
- Coursework or exposure to MBSE tools and SysML.
- Awareness of industry trends such as Cloud/Infrastructure-as-Code, data analytics, DevSecOps, AWS or Azure, containerization, and microservices.
- Academic exposure to satellite or space-based technologies.
- Familiarity with operations research / systems analysis concepts.
- Introductory knowledge of Digital Thread or Digital Twin concepts.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within systems engineering disciplines.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $82,000 - $102,000 USD annually. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s skills, experience, and internal parity.

- On-site in Chantilly, VA.
- Minimal travel required.
