Role summary

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Jr. Software Engineer to join their Triana, AL team. This is a full-time role focused on web application development, web services, deployment automation, and supporting company and partner websites. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or related field), strong coding fundamentals in C/C++ and/or Python, and an eagerness to learn across the full software lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

  • Construct well-designed user interface elements that interact with backend services.
  • Design, develop, test, and deliver web applications and web services from concept to production.
  • Develop scripts and tools to deploy, monitor, and maintain web services.
  • Perform server and web-service setup, administration, configuration, and automated deployments.
  • Work with IT/DevOps to deploy releases in production and non-production environments.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define clear requirements, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Support and enhance the company website and partner sites.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle and assist with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years experience in software design, development, integration, or web development.
  • Strong ability to write clean, robust, and testable code in C/C++.
  • Experience with Python or other object-oriented languages.
  • Familiarity with binary analysis tools (IDA Pro) is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a small team.

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a lab environment (setting up and using test equipment and debugging tools).
  • Familiarity with additional languages and technologies: Python, SQL, HTML, C#, CSS, JavaScript, PHP.
  • Secret security clearance preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt, and contribute in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Requirements & compliance

  • This role may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Positions requiring a clearance will require proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Must be able to work in-office and in lab/field environments as needed. This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
