About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking a motivated entry-level Jr. IT Software Engineer (AMR) to join a hybrid factory-and-office team in Guntersville, AL. This hands-on position splits time between production-floor work with Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and office-based software development supporting factory automation and internal tooling.
What You’ll Do
- Write clean, maintainable code in C++ and Python for internal applications and robot integrations.
- Help test, deploy, and debug software updates in simulation and on physical systems.
- Assist with setup, calibration, and commissioning of AMRs and robotic workstations on the factory floor.
- Monitor real-time performance, collect operational data, and document field issues for continuous improvement.
- Support software integration with factory systems (databases, PLC interfaces, MES integrations).
- Build simple internal tools for data analysis, monitoring, and validation.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established software development lifecycle practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Foundational experience with C++ and/or Python.
- Familiarity with Linux-based development and common developer tooling.
- Basic understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, and debugging.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and clear written/verbal communication.
- Comfortable working on an active production floor and switching between hands-on troubleshooting and office development.
- Preferred (not required): internship or project experience in robotics, familiarity with ROS and simulation tools, exposure to industrial automation concepts or cloud platforms.
Compensation & Benefits
- Contract / Full-time opportunity
- Base salary range: $73,000 — $102,000 per year (consistent with source posting)
