Position overview
Confidential client is seeking a motivated Jr. ICAM (Identity, Credential, and Access Management) Specialist to support federal ICAM programs in Washington, DC. This is an entry- to early-mid level role focused on implementing and maintaining identity and access capabilities, working under senior ICAM staff and security leadership. The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
What you’ll do
The Jr. ICAM Specialist will support day-to-day ICAM operations and projects. Typical responsibilities include:
- Support administration and operation of identity providers, MFA solutions, SSO platforms, PAM tools, and directory services under senior guidance.
- Assist with identity lifecycle management: provisioning, deprovisioning, and access recertification.
- Help maintain RBAC and ABAC configurations to enforce least-privilege access.
- Support MFA enrollment, configuration, and troubleshooting for personnel and contractors.
- Assist with PIV credential lifecycle activities (enrollment, issuance, maintenance) in accordance with HSPD-12 / FIPS 201 and NIST guidelines.
- Configure and maintain SSO integrations and troubleshoot SSO issues.
- Support Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID account and group management and directory sync tasks.
- Assist with PAM onboarding, policy configuration, and monitoring of privileged activities.
- Support periodic access review and certification processes.
- Help develop and maintain ICAM documentation: SOPs, user guides, and configuration records.
- Monitor ICAM platform logs/alerts, escalate anomalies, and support incident triage with senior staff.
- Provide timely support for ICAM-related helpdesk tickets and user issues.
- Participate in ICAM project tasks: implementation support, testing, and documentation.
- Coordinate with IT, security, and application teams to integrate ICAM capabilities across the enterprise.
- Stay current on federal ICAM guidance and best practices and apply learning to improve capabilities.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field — OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1–3 years of IT or cybersecurity experience with exposure to identity and access management concepts, tools, or processes.
- Foundational knowledge of identity principles: provisioning, authentication, authorization, RBAC/ABAC, and least privilege.
- One or more of: CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security/SC-900, or equivalent entry-level cybersecurity/identity certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Effective written and oral communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
Desired qualifications
- Prior internship or entry-level experience with identity and access management, directory services, or federal ICAM programs.
- Pursuing or holding Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or related certifications.
- Familiarity with PAM tools (e.g., CyberArk, BeyondTrust, Delinea).
- Familiarity with cloud IAM (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and federation protocols (SAML, OAuth2, OIDC).
- Basic PowerShell or scripting skills to automate directory tasks.
- Entry- to mid-level cybersecurity certifications such as CompTIA CySA+ or GSEC are a plus.

- Foundational ICAM technical knowledge and eagerness to learn.
- Basic familiarity with Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID, MFA, and SSO platforms.
- Understanding of federal ICAM concepts (FICAM, NIST SP 800-63, HSPD-12, FIPS 201) at a conceptual level.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow procedures under senior guidance.
- Team-oriented, responsive to direction, and committed to professional growth.
- Comfortable supporting helpdesk ticket resolution for identity/access issues.
