Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Jr Cyber Security Analyst to support security operations and monitoring for its IT environment in Auburn Hills, MI. This role reports to senior security staff and helps with alert monitoring, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and basic incident response while developing hands-on skills across enterprise security tools.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor and investigate security alerts, logs, and potential threats across endpoints, networks, and systems.
- Support incident detection and initial triage; escalate confirmed incidents to senior security staff.
- Assist with vulnerability scans, remediation tracking, and reporting (Tenable preferred).
- Operate and tune endpoint detection & response tools (CrowdStrike or equivalent).
- Support firewall rule reviews and troubleshooting (Fortinet/FortiGate or equivalent).
- Maintain basic documentation of incidents, procedures, and system configurations.
- Collaborate with IT and higher-education-facing teams to maintain secure system operations.
Required qualifications
- Associate degree with 1+ year of relevant experience, OR 3+ years of relevant experience; bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information systems, or related field preferred.
- 1+ year experience in IT or information security roles (security operations, system/network admin, or help desk with security responsibilities).
- Hands-on experience with CrowdStrike EDR or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet/FortiGate or similar next-generation firewalls.
- Experience with vulnerability management tools—Tenable experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Windows, and Linux systems.
- Foundational understanding of incident response and cybersecurity principles.
- CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience in or supporting higher education environments is a plus.
Compensation & benefits
- Pay range: $26/hr to $30/hr (exact pay may vary based on skills, experience, and education).
- Benefit eligibility begins on day 31 and may include medical, dental, and vision insurance, HSA/FSA/DCFSAs, and 401(k) access with employer match (as applicable).
- Paid sick leave and other paid time off as required by law.
