What You’ll Do

You will support purchasing and production planning activities for Confidential Client’s Manufacturing operations in Fairfield, NJ. This is an entry-level Jr. Buyer role that works closely with Purchasing, Planning, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to help ensure materials are available, production schedules are accurate, and customer delivery commitments are met.

• Support planning and scheduling of material purchases to meet production needs and engineering changes
• Prepare and process purchase orders and maintain accurate pricing and item records in the ERP system (Plex ERP experience is a plus)
• Review MRP outputs, identify potential shortages, and escalate risks to the Senior Planner
• Assist with supplier research, supplier record maintenance, and routine supplier communications
• Monitor supplier delivery and quality performance; escalate issues as needed
• Track production work orders and communicate potential schedule delays to planners and production leads
• Help maintain inventory accuracy for raw materials, WIP and finished goods to support planning decisions
• Support cost-saving and continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing and planning

Responsibilities (daily / weekly)

• Maintain purchase order accuracy and update supplier lead times and pricing in Plex ERP or the business system
• Create and update production work orders per Senior Planner direction; track status and due dates
• Monitor on-time delivery metrics and flag on-time delivery risks to the team
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse on material readiness and schedule changes
• Gather machine capacity, lead time, and production constraint data for the planning team
• Assist in implementing approved schedule adjustments following downtime, material shortages, or priority changes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
• 0–2 years of purchasing, inventory, or planning experience (internships and entry-level backgrounds encouraged)
• Basic understanding of purchasing processes and inventory management; willingness to learn about raw materials and specialty alloys
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with MRP systems and Plex ERP is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
• Eagerness to learn negotiation, supplier management, and problem-solving skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $60,000–$75,000 per year (base)
• Employment type: Full-time (Contract/Full-time status per client)
