Role overview
This is an entry-level, contract-to-hire Junior AV Engineer position based onsite in Andover, MA. The confidential client is looking for a motivated candidate with a technical mindset who wants hands-on training and career growth in audiovisual (AV) systems design, deployment, and support. This role partners closely with systems engineers, project managers, sales, and field technicians supporting corporate, higher-education, and healthcare clients across the region.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in designing audiovisual systems for conference rooms, classrooms, training spaces, and corporate environments
- Support creation of proposals, equipment lists, and project documentation
- Coordinate with drafting and design teams on system drawings and layouts
- Participate in client meetings to gather requirements and scope work
- Review and update system drawings and technical documentation
- Conduct site visits to document construction progress and identify field installation considerations
- Stage and test AV equipment prior to deployment
- Support installation teams with technical guidance and troubleshooting
- Research products and support technical solution development
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, project management, and field operations teams
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (technical diploma, certifications, or relevant hands-on work)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with solid organizational and follow-up skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office; familiarity with Windows environments
- Demonstrated interest in technology and eagerness to learn AV, networking, and design tools
- Ability to work effectively on a team and follow project processes
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or exposure to any of the following will help you ramp quickly:
- Audiovisual technology or AV technician experience
- IT support / help desk experience
- Networking fundamentals (basic IP networking)
- Conference room technologies and control systems
- Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms
- CAD tools such as AutoCAD or Revit
- Hands-on technical troubleshooting
- Commercial construction, low-voltage wiring, or field installation
