What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Java Software Engineer to design, build, and operate resilient backend systems in a microservices environment. You will work closely with architects, product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver high-quality services that scale.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based microservices (Java 8/11/17)
• Build RESTful APIs using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data
• Implement asynchronous integrations using Kafka (producers/consumers, partitioning)
• Model and optimize MongoDB schemas, indexes, and aggregation pipelines
• Optimize data access and SQL queries for transactional and reporting scenarios
• Ensure availability, scalability, and performance of services in OpenShift / AWS
• Apply secure-coding, exception handling, logging, monitoring, and resiliency patterns
• Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines
• Support deployments and troubleshoot production incidents as needed
• Collaborate across teams (Business Analysts, Architects, QA, DevOps) to meet requirements and SLAs

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications

• Strong hands-on Java experience (Java 8/11/17)
• Practical experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data
• Experience designing and building microservices and REST APIs
• Hands-on MongoDB experience: document modeling, indexing, aggregation, performance tuning
• Experience with messaging systems (Kafka preferred)
• Familiarity with container platforms and cloud (OpenShift and/or AWS)
• Solid understanding of exception handling, logging, monitoring, and resiliency strategies
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and supporting production deployments
• Associate-level (or similar) experience building production Java services

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Deep experience tuning SQL for transactional and reporting workloads
• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger and API contract-driven development
• Experience with observability tools (metrics, tracing, logging platforms)

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 per year + benefits (as listed by the client)
• Full-time role; benefits details will be provided by the hiring organization during the interview process
