What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Java Software Engineer to design and build backend services for enterprise-grade trading systems. You will work with engineering, product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver high-availability, low-latency solutions used in capital markets.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance Java backend applications
• Build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs supporting trading and financial workflows
• Implement solutions for high-volume transaction processing and low-latency requirements
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions
• Optimize application performance, JVM tuning, and reliability for production systems
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver timely fixes
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices
• Conduct and participate in code reviews; ensure adherence to coding standards
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has strong backend Java experience and a track record of building resilient systems for demanding financial or trading environments.

• Strong experience with Java (JVM), Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security
• Proven experience with Microservices architecture and REST API development
• Hands-on with Spring Data JPA / Hibernate and relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
• Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and the Java Collections Framework
• Experience with build tools (Maven or Gradle) and version control (Git)
• Experience with JVM performance tuning and profiling
• Good grasp of OOP, design patterns, and clean code practices
• Experience operating in Agile teams and collaborating across cross-functional groups

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Demonstrable production experience building backend systems in Java

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing solutions for Trading Platforms, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, or Financial Services
• Prior work on low-latency or high-throughput transaction processing systems
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization
