What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Java Software Engineer (Level 1 or 2) to join an Agile software team based in Morrisville, NC. In this role you will design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services to meet mission and business requirements.

• Work on Agile 2-week sprints and deliver incrementally for multi-month increments
• Design and implement Java services and microservices that integrate with RESTful APIs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, hardware, QA) to integrate solutions
• Participate in code reviews, feature iterations, and peer-review processes
• Integrate with SQL and/or NoSQL data stores and ensure reliable data access
• Follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices and maintain documentation
• Support deployments and troubleshooting; may require up to ~10% travel

Minimum Qualifications (Basic)

• Level 1:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science/technical field OR equivalent experience (0+ years of software development experience; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree)
• Level 2:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science/technical field plus 2+ years of professional software development experience (or a Master’s with 0+ years; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree)
• Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required at time of application
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Strong understanding of the Java programming language
• Experience working with RESTful APIs and microservices
• Familiarity with version control using Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket workflows)
• Demonstrated success working in Agile teams and understanding of SDLC
• Experience integrating applications with SQL and/or NoSQL databases

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA Security+ certification
• Experience with Linux environments
• Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams
• Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, and automated builds
• Familiarity with peer review and feature-iteration best practices

Compensation & Benefits

• Level 1 salary range: $76,200 - $114,400 per year
• Level 2 salary range: $91,800 - $137,600 per year
• Compensation may be influenced by experience, education, skills, and market conditions
• Candidates may be eligible for benefits such as health insurance, life/disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, holidays, and discretionary bonuses
