What You’ll Do

We are hiring an entry- to mid-level Java Software Engineer (Level 1 or Level 2) to join a fast-paced Agile software team supporting mission-critical systems. As a participant in this role you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and microservices.
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate services with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Work on an Agile team (2-week sprints) contributing to design discussions, code reviews, and iterative feature delivery.
  • Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize applications for performance and scalability.
  • Follow software development lifecycle best practices, version control workflows (Git/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket), and CI/CD processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineers (systems, hardware, DevOps) to meet delivery goals and technical requirements.
  • Participate in peer reviews, feature iterations, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required):

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science/engineering discipline OR equivalent experience (0+ years software development experience; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree).
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science/engineering discipline with 2+ years of professional software development experience (0+ years with a Master’s; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree).
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at time of application.
  • Strong knowledge of the Java programming language.
  • Practical experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control and team workflows on platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
  • Demonstrated success working in Agile environments.
  • Experience integrating applications with SQL or NoSQL databases and an understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for positions requiring security clearance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with peer-review best practices and iterative feature delivery.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary ranges (depending on level and experience):

  • Primary (Level 1) Salary Range: $76,200 – $114,400 per year
  • Secondary (Level 2) Salary Range: $91,800 – $137,600 per year

These ranges are guidelines. Final offers will consider experience, education, skills, and market factors. Depending on the role, participants may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and company benefits where applicable. Relocation assistance: No.


Location, Clearance & Travel

  • Work location: Aurora, CO (on-site).
  • Clearance: Top Secret with SCI eligibility required at application time.
  • Travel: Up to ~10% travel may be required for program-related activities.

About the SkillBridge Program

This opportunity is part of an approved SkillBridge program that provides eligible transitioning service members with hands-on civilian work experience during the final months of military service (up to 180 days). SkillBridge participants typically continue to receive military pay and benefits during participation and are not paid by the host employer. Eligibility and program rules apply, including command authorization and separation timelines. Participation can provide direct exposure to engineering teams and may lead to conversion to a full-time role when available.
