As a Java Software Engineer I, you will work on developing and supporting Java-based software solutions that drive business operations for our confidential client. This entry-level role pairs hands-on development with mentorship from senior engineers and exposure to modern engineering practices.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based applications according to business and technical requirements.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established standards and best practices.
  • Create and execute unit tests to help ensure software quality and functionality.
  • Assist in debugging and troubleshooting software issues; identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply feedback to improve technical skills and code quality.
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders on project work and enhancements.
  • Contribute to technical documentation for features, code changes, and internal processes.
  • Use development and project tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Confluence to support team workflows.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) and continuous improvement activities.

What We're Looking For

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0–3 years of professional software development experience (including internships, academic projects, or personal projects).
  • Familiarity with Java programming concepts, object‑oriented design principles, and software development methodologies.
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git/GitHub.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred skills & competencies

  • Strong understanding of Java fundamentals, standard libraries, and common frameworks.
  • Familiarity with IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse.
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks such as Spring or React.
  • Understanding of Agile development practices and the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with eagerness to learn new technologies and grow professionally.
