What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Java Software Engineer to help build and modernize core investment research and asset-management platforms. You will work on cloud-ready, enterprise-grade applications that power critical financial workflows and client experiences.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and other engineers in an Agile environment
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based microservices and REST APIs
- Contribute to event-driven architectures and integrations with relational and NoSQL stores
- Write high-quality, well-tested code (unit/integration tests) and participate in code reviews
- Support CI/CD pipelines, automation, and containerized deployments (Docker)
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive performance, reliability, and scalability improvements
- Participate in modernization efforts: migrate legacy components, improve developer tooling, and adopt cloud-native patterns
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in software development (internships, academic projects, co-ops, or professional roles accepted)
- Foundational proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design fundamentals
- Experience writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining code with attention to quality and reliability
- Familiarity with relational databases and the ability to write and troubleshoot SQL queries
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and modern application development concepts
- Experience with Git or similar version control systems in a team setting
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to learn new technologies and adapt within an Agile development environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- Exposure to microservices and event-driven architectures
- Experience developing or consuming REST APIs and working with unit test frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration concepts
- Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) and front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular)
- Familiarity with Python for tooling, analytics, or dashboards is a plus
- Passion for clean code, automation, and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of responsible use of AI-assisted development tools within governance/security guidelines
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $43.27–$45.19 per hour (as provided by the client) — eligible for bonus/incentive opportunities
