Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry‑level Java Programmer with AWS experience who is interested in applied AI and data‑driven projects. This role is ideal for recent graduates or career switchers who want hands‑on experience with Java, AWS, and foundational AI/ML concepts while working toward placement in full‑time engineering or data roles.


What you’ll do

  • Contribute to backend Java development and assist with full‑stack tasks as needed
  • Support AWS cloud deployments and basic infrastructure (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda or similar)
  • Work on applied AI/ML tasks: data cleaning, exploratory analysis, model evaluation, and simple NLP or predictive analytics projects
  • Write and maintain SQL queries and help with data pipeline tasks
  • Create clear documentation and communicate technical tradeoffs to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and training/mentorship sessions

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent experience (recent grads encouraged)
  • Some hands‑on experience with Java (class projects, internships, bootcamps, coursework)
  • Familiarity with AWS core services (e.g., S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM) or demonstrable cloud experience
  • Basic SQL skills and comfort working with data
  • Interest in machine learning / AI concepts (experience with Python and ML libraries is a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (nice‑to‑have) skills

  • Hands‑on Python (pandas, scikit‑learn) for data tasks
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, or basic DevOps practices
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Tableau)
  • Coursework or projects in NLP, predictive modeling, or statistics
  • Prior internship, apprenticeship, or project experience that demonstrates applied problem solving
