What You’ll Do
You will join a technical team focused on building and supporting Java-based microservices while also contributing to data analysis tasks as a junior analyst. This is an entry-level / early-career role where you’ll receive hands-on mentorship and a structured career path.
- Design, implement, and maintain Java microservices (Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem).
- Build RESTful APIs and integrate services through HTTP/JSON and messaging where applicable.
- Write clean, testable code and automated unit/integration tests.
- Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and data teams to translate requirements into working features.
- Support junior data-analytic tasks: data cleaning, query writing, basic analysis, and visualization to inform product decisions.
- Use SQL to extract and analyze data; support ad-hoc analytics and reporting needs.
- Participate in agile ceremonies and code reviews; follow CI/CD and version-control (Git) best practices.
- Learn on the job: adapt to feedback, follow a growth plan, and complete assigned learning modules or project work.
Who You Are (Qualifications)
We encourage applicants who are early in their tech careers — recent grads, career changers, or professionals returning from gaps.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Statistics, or equivalent experience — OR demonstrable project experience.
- 0–2 years of professional experience; internships, coursework, or personal projects welcome.
- Familiarity with Java and object-oriented programming fundamentals.
- Basic experience with SQL; comfortable writing SELECTs and simple joins.
- Some exposure to Python, data analysis libraries, or scripting is a plus.
- Clear communicator and collaborative team player.
- Comfortable learning cloud fundamentals, containers (Docker), and CI/CD tools on the job.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience or coursework with Spring Boot, REST APIs, or microservice patterns.
- Hands-on projects involving data pipelines, ETL, or basic ML concepts.
- Version control experience (Git) and familiarity with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Proven appetite for continual learning — online courses, bootcamps, or portfolio projects.
Compensation & Location
- Salary: $78,000 - $136,000 per year (range provided by the hiring client).
- Employment type: Full time.
- Location: Salt Lake City, UT — onsite or client-specified location in the Salt Lake City area.
