Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Java Microservices Developer / Junior Data Analyst for a full-time position in Mc Lean, VA. This role is ideal for recent CS grads, career changers, or early-career engineers who want hands-on experience building Java microservices and working with data (SQL, dashboards, basic analytics).
Estimated pay: $93,846 per year (estimated).
What You’ll Do
As a Java Microservices Developer / Jr Data Analyst (entry-level), you will:
- Build and maintain Java-based microservices following best practices for modular design and RESTful APIs
- Write, run, and optimize SQL queries for reporting and data validation
- Contribute to ETL/data-integration tasks and help prepare datasets for analysts
- Create basic dashboards and visualizations to tell a business story from the data
- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in code reviews
- Work closely with senior engineers and data teams to learn tooling, CI/CD, and cloud deployment patterns
- Communicate outcomes clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience
- Familiarity with Java (core language and common libraries)
- Basic understanding of microservices architecture and REST APIs
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to data quality
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Able and eager to learn on the job and follow technical direction from senior engineers
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks
- Experience with version control (Git)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) or containerization (Docker)
- Basic experience with BI tools or dashboarding (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.)
- Coursework or projects demonstrating data analysis, dashboards, or ETL pipelines
