What You’ll Do
This full-time, entry-level ITS/Traffic Engineer role with a confidential client on-site in Raleigh, NC focuses on ITS and traffic engineering design, analysis, and support across a variety of transportation projects.
- Design and develop ITS and traffic plans and drawings (preliminary layouts and/or final drawings), including traffic signal design, signing, striping, and traffic safety improvements.
- Support fiber-optic communications routing and splicing plans and coordinate utility impacts.
- Conduct ITS and traffic engineering investigations, planning, and analysis for well-defined scopes of work.
- Prepare straightforward technical report sections and contribute to larger reports under senior review.
- Research alternative design approaches, regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
- Contribute to specifications, permit applications, and preliminary man-hour, cost, and material quantity estimates.
- Participate in quality control, review computations, and check designs/drawings prepared by others.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and perform field observations of construction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
What We’re Looking For
Candidates should meet the minimum qualifications and demonstrate a growth mindset, strong communication, and collaborative skills.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Experience: Entry-level — minimal professional experience required; graduates with a Master’s in a relevant engineering discipline may also qualify.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.
- Aptitude: Basic math and data-entry skills; strong willingness to learn and develop technical capability.
- Communication: Good interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to prepare technical writing and reports.
- Professional registrations: None required at hire.
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected salary range: $75,000 – $85,000 annually (depending on skills, experience, and geographic location).
- Employment type: Full-time, regular employee.
